Volunteer Opportunities

There are so many ways to get involved at Shir Tikvah! Whether you have an extra hour or more to share...
Here are just a few:

Oneg set up (oneg captain)  - do you like to set out food and make a table look inviting and nice? That's all you need to be able to do as an oneg captain. Bring a friend or two if you like...do it once or as often as you like. Oneg captains arrive half an hour before services and stay afterward to clean up.

Pre-service set up (shammas) Ever wonder how the lights get turned on in the sanctuary, how the kiddush cup, candles and challah magically appear before services? Wonder no more...help with this integral step in preparing for services. Set up of chairs is not required!

To learn more about these and other available options, or to discuss your particular areas of interest and how those can best be utilized, contact Sara.

No skills or experience required, training and tools are provided.

Community Volunteer Opportunities:

Crisis Nursery: Cook for Kids

Wanted: Home baked goods for onegs!
In order to make our onegs (refreshments served after services) homey and delicious, we are looking for home baked cakes, bars, bundt cakes, cookies, etc. There really are no limits to what you can bake. Do you prefer to bake gluten free? Great! Low fat? That'll work too! Prefer baking from a box? We'll take it!

Items can be dropped off anytime. Please be sure to label and date your items. We'll freeze and use as needed. Questions? Contact Sara

Opportunities with the Shir Tikvah Religious School
Interested in these opportunities? Please contact Rabbi Jason Rodich.

Greeters are asked to be at selected posts on Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 9:45 am and then again from 11:15 until 11:45 am. The Greeter's job is to be friendly and welcoming and to provide a watchful eye as people enter and leave the building. To sign up, please contact Sara.

Room Parents
Each Religious School grade has one or two room parents whose major role is to “take a class and turn it into a community.”
Room parents arrange for potluck Shabbat dinners, field trip carpools, and support teachers with special classroom activities. Being a room parent is a great way to meet other Shir Tikvah families.
