Torah and Revelation:

A Liberal Jewish Approach

Taught by Dr. Mara Benjamin

In this mini-course, we consider the diversity of ways in which Jewish tradition conceives of the Torah as
revelation. Our discussion will be grounded in our
reading of selected essays by the 20th century
German Jewish thinkers Martin Buber and Franz
Rosenzweig. In following their quest to articulate
the meaning of revelation and Torah for non‐
Orthodox Jews, we will wrestle with some of the key
intellectual challenges of the modern era.
