  • Shir Tikvah

Shabbat T'shuvah falls between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur. T'shuvah means Return.  The Torah reading for this Shabbat varies from community to community.  The prevalent Askenazi custom is to repeat the reading from the Shabbat that falls during Pesach.  A different custom is for the Rabbi to decide what the community most needs to hear/learn.  American Reform folks read Ha'azinu.

It is the Haftorah reading that stays steady - Hosea 14:2-10 and followed by Joel 2:15-27 in Askenaz and by Micha 7:18-20 in Sephardic communities. All three of these are beautiful poems of Return to G-d.
