Featuring a joint dvar from Dave Snyder and Nelima Sitate Munene on sacred partnership and transformation organizing in the Twin Cities

Nelima Sitati Munene is the Executive Director of the African Career Education and Resources, Inc. (ACER) – a grassroots issue based organization working in the Twin Cities to advance equity especially within the African Immigrant community. Nelima works to develop leaders who can transform community through civic engagement. She is passionate about advancing equity and justice. She has led campaigns around issues on women's rights, racial discrimination, housing inequality and economic justice. She is currently a Co-Chair of the Metropolitan Council’s Equity Advisory Committee, and serves on the boards of The Alliance for Metropolitan Stability, prg and Women Venture. Nelima is an Alumni of the Humphrey Public Policy Fellow and the James P. Shannon Leadership Institute. 

Dave Snyder was born and raised in Minneapolis, and is busting with pride to be the son of Rhona Leibel, one of Shir Tikvah's founders. Dave carries forward that legacy by serving on our Board and teaching the Confirmation class with our Rabbis.  He has spent nearly 25 years as a labor, campus, faith based and community organizer, and is currently the Organizing Director at Jewish Community Action (JCA). Dave has a BA in Philosophy from Goucher College and a Masters degree in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Dave and his wife Kristy have two adorable, mischievous children and live in Richfield.
