Everything You Wanted to Know About Shiva and Volunteer Opportunities

Shiva is part of the Jewish grieving ritual. It is a time for mourners to reflect on the loss of a loved one, to talk about that loss, and to receive comfort from family and friends who visit.

If you are interested in knowing more about shiva or would like to be part of the Caring Committee Community's team of shiva volunteers, please come to a learning session. Rabbi Latz will discuss the importance of the shiva ritual, why we have a shiva, what to say to mourners, how to act, and what to bring to those in mourning. After the shiva discussion, you can participate in a training session on how to become a shiva volunteer, provide meaningful support to a grieving family, and be an integral part of a holy community.  Refreshments will be served.
