Cultivating Inner Qualities for Leadership (IQ for Leadership):
An Introductory Mussar / Tikkun Middot working group
Facilitator: Julie Dean
Mussar offers a Jewish pathway into leading a more meaningful, spiritually fulfilled life. Mussar is a treasury of Jewish teachings and practices that have evolved over the past thousand years. This spiritual practice is aimed at elevating one’s character and providing guidance for our life journey.
This Fall, leaders from Shir Tikvah are invited to join the Tikkun Middot Leadership Va'ad where we will experience how Mussar practices, teachings, reflection and study can help each of us live with more intention, awareness and fulfillment. Through facilitated sessions on middot (soul traits) each person will apply the learning to their own lives, leadership roles and our collective vision of Shir Tikvah. Please make sure that you can attend all of the sessions and commit to a 20 minute conversation with another group member every other week. To deepen our learning, participants will also be asked to maintain a personal journal during the course.
Julie Dean has been a professional facilitator of group dynamics for 24 years, has a Master's degree in experiential education and has been a local leader in Mussar study with five Jewish congregations in the Twin Cities area. Julie seeks to provide experiences where people can learn about themselves and one another through engaging dialogue, holy listening, and personal introspection. She invites participants to co-create a dynamic that is emotionally safe, non-judgmental, supportive, and meaningful.
