In religious Orthodox Communities in Israel, being LGBTQ is more often than not taboo, marginalized, or often even unacknowledged. In the past several years, religious LGBTQ Israelis have come together to “refuse to choose” between their LGBTQ and religious identities. Together, they’ve make inroads in religious communities and created spaces of their own where they can be their full authentic selves – LGBT, Israeli, and observant.

Daniel Jonas of Havruta (Gay Men Religious Israeli Organization) and Zehorit Sorek of Bat Kol (LBT Women Religious Israeli Organizaion) join A Wider Bridge to share their organizations’ work changing attitudes in religious communities across Israel, fighting homophobia and hurtful tools like conversion therapy, and cultivating the flourishing LGBT religious communities and events that exist today in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and across the State of Israel.
