We love having congregants chant Torah! Come one, come all! Plenty of readings to go around, but we need you!!! Already chanted before? Sign up again! Parent of a teenager? Encourage them to sign up! THANK YOU! Please let Wendy know if you’d like to chant Torah, on the Shabbat dates listed below. Help with text and recordings is available as needed. THANK YOU!!!!
The Shir Tikvah Choir
Shir Tikvah is a musical congregation, blending harmonies at services, and has an active choir.
Shir Tikvah Choir, under the direction of Marlys Fiterman, sings for the High Holy Days and for Shabbat Shira. We sing from a varied repertoire from early composers such as Lewandowski and Janowski, to modern composers such as Finkelstein and Maseng. To volunteer for the choir, please contact our Music Director, Wendy Goldberg.
Shabbat Shira will be celebrated on January 10, 2014 at the 8:00 p.m. services. Around the world, this Shabbat is devoted to Jewish music and songs because this is when the Torah reading includes the "Song of the Sea" that Moses and Miriam sing after crossing safely through the Red Sea. Each year our choir presents music on a theme. This year our theme is music set to Biblical texts. Join us!
Choir Rehearsals will be at Shir Tikvah, 7:00-8:30 on the following dates:
Thursday, November 14
Thursday, November 21
Sunday, December 8
Thursday, December 19
Sunday, January 5
Thursday, January 9
